God I'm so fucking tired of lines and pseudo cell-shading. As 幽幽 astutely noted, the last thing I churned out was a distinct anomaly far from my style. Maybe that's why I desperately want to like it but (so far) can't, and couldn't figure out how to make things right either.

Rather than seeing today's exercise as falling back into my comfort zone, I see this as my most effective method of studying.

Couldn't find it in me to challenge old Dohko, for now. If I have enough breath left I might do an entire series just for him. Also Milo with blonde Dohko hair basically looks like Hyoga, huh. Might switch back to animu's violet-blue if it gets too bad.

This is definitely my punishment, too, for shading on different sessions. Making texture look consistent will be such a pain in the ass. And I still haven't even attempted faces yet...

Also this is officially the best Saint Seiya trailer/AMV in existence, ever. It makes even ME want to watch Saint Seiya, the whole shebang. What the fuck. Seriously though, chills down my spine from 3:20 on.




(Because, contrary to popular belief, I'm actually reluctant to touch the classic TV series due to shitty voice actors and really dumb changes from manga. There are people who swear by the old seiyuu, but personally, for at least the twins, Ryotaro Okiayu (starting 3:23) is the fucking shit and I refuse to accept any other voice for them.)

Holy crap I think I FINALLY understand why people do lineart. This is actually...pleasantly... fun and enjoyable. And it all felt so unbelievably natural and easy, too. What the shitting Batman.

Basically, touched the Intuos for only the second time (under time constraint) and already irrevocably spoiled for the rest of life.

So it looks like I get an upgrade every five-ish years?? Here's to hoping that this one will last me much longer than that. Things are fixed now, but I had a mini-panic attack earlier as I ran into the common bug of missing pressure sensitivity in SAI.

Differences I noticed already:
- Significantly less bugs in software
- Different drawing surface feel
- Greater pressure sensitivity
- Bulkier tablet, will need special case

Still getting used to:
- Flipping pen over for eraser (!!)
- Left-hand scroll wheel shortcuts for zoom and brush size (!!!)
- Pen nib does wear faster (...)

Needless to say, I'm still overall thrilled. Thanks for doing this for me, Jing.
