2016 vs 2021

For a lighting exercise I meant to do way back when that completely, obviously, and utterly died in the womb 🤣 I most certainly didn't think I'd ever be able to do clean line art ever until...a month ago? Damn. I wonder where I'll be by the end of this class...and can't wait to get there 🙂

Oh. The birthday thing was totally on time and has been up elsewhere. I just legit didn't...here.

And I guess to make up for it, I'll put up some shit that I haven't made public anywhere else yet. Another collab-kind-of event, where this time I'll have to draw 27 goddamn heads of different characters to make an array with like 20 other people who're doing the same thing. This will take for fucking ever but seemed like such a good idea at the time.

B/w because I'm lazy. Also saving the twins for later for motivation purposes. Also turns out this thing seems to be a worthy exercise if nothing else, because I appear to be getting better with each one.

...I'm dying from demo reel. How the fuck will I survive to the end of the year? I really wonder.

What I had been busy organizing for the last month. The first person in each chain drew whatever they wanted, and each following person was supposed to redraw the same picture in their own style/ interpretation. Each person could only see the image directly before theirs in the chain, and neither team knew what the other team was doing until the final composite image was put together. Strange coincidences occurred.

In case it's somehow not obvious, my baby was this one:

Overall the experience was a fun one, but toward the end, the whole thing that comes with leadership and yadda yadda became too much to bear for this time. Still, it was awesome to gather this many old and new people.

The overlay blending mode is absolute magic lololololol. The more I learn, the more I feel like a helpless newborn with no fucking idea on how to do anything.

Also I can't figure out how to make blogger stop doing this automatic color correction thing and it's a pain having to upload a url rather than the actual image, what the hell.

Struggling to finish these both by tonight, final deadliest of all deadlines. Summoning all my strength and resolve ever.

God it's been TOO fucking long since I've made anything for me.

Deadline for the next publication, at the end of the month, will be pushing me to make a lot more. Despite how terrible a dent this puts into homework time, I haven't felt this fucking good since February.

It's nice to be ambitious about drawing and all, but then I remember I actually AM (was) too fucking busy. With this guy.

I am an artist.

That is what I am, and that is what I do. Because of that, I draw. Because of that, I exist. How dare I become complacent? How dare I let this fall into habit and live simply to get by, homework to homework? How dare I forget the passion that led me here in the first place?!

From this day on, daily sketches resume. No more bullshit excuses. No more fear of toil and burnout, because that is part of the natural struggle in life. I eat and sleep every day; so will I draw.

Happy birthday (in Asia time), Saga and Kanon. I live to breathe life into you.

Listening to the exchange with Saga starting at 5:03 on repeat, fucking amazed at how Okiayu subtly but distinctively gave them different voices. Squeeing upon hearing traces of Alucard when Kanon trails off at certain words. And, lololololol'ing uncontrollably at how he goes Nii-san this and Nii-san that thirteen years ago.

Fun, but a bit of a pain wrestling with the program. If only I realized there were multiple layers available to use earlier... *facepalm* Next time I want to try mashing styles together simply because of how drastically different we are.

Also it's a funny feeling remembering that, as recent as May, I still had no idea how male anatomy worked. And now, still learning all its male kinks, I can't imagine having the enthusiasm to ever draw females again.
