281. Edge

Peace suddenly feels like the end of a spectrum (an unstable extreme, so potent of backlash into the opposite) rather than a safely balanced middle-ground. Effort is exerted in fingernails digging for hold against a glass-smooth mirror-surface.

So slippery.

280. Speedy

A quick one for today. Almost scary how easily I can throw these together nowadays.

Also found out that Saga/Kanon's OVA voice actor is the freaking Treize Khushrenada and Castlevania-Alucard. As if there was ever any doubt, GEMINI TWINS = ESTROGEN BRIGADE BAIT CONFIRMED

279. School

The urge came back uncontrollably strong today...to the point that I came unbelievably close to actually coming out to a parent about it. I need to steady myself and dabble with what I can achieve on my own, first. So, so much to explore and improve upon. So much to learn.

Unrelatedly, a revelation on why Saint Seiya is currently (steadily, unyieldingly) milking my fan juices like nothing I've encountered in recent memory. It's because the actual canonical stuff is simply so damned unsatisfying to the point of beyond terrible. Laying such a beautiful and intriguing baseline story, creating a genius array of secondary characters (who possess the biggest fan base that far outstrips that of actual main characters) - and then leaving them severely underdeveloped (despite strong hints of badly executed character depth) and not to mention killing them ALL off for a supremely retarded plot device. This leaves an extremely odd dynamic where I want to say I actually hate the fucking show, hate the main characters' guts, but remain hung up in obsessive lament for the above twelve. Especially Saga. Poor dear Saga. What the fucking hell. Why make him alone suffer so much? Is all this done on purpose just to distill fans??! To enrage people into saying, I WANT TO MAKE THIS RIGHT, GODDAMNIT!? *FANWORK OUTPOUR*

278. Animation

Support Masaaki Yuasa's next creation of art.

Why is it that the medium of animation is forever doomed to be perceived as entertainment for children in the West? Why is there so little consumer interest in anime outside of hentai in the East? Why is it that true artists who attempt to push the boundaries of what the medium can achieve penalized by a bad market, much less rewarded or encouraged to produce new work? Let's not even get into the issue of piracy here; in order to access works like Kaiba outside of Japan, there simply exists no alternative. In order to appreciate, I am forced to steal.

Can kickstarter really be the answer to this catch-22? If there exists even the slightest hope that the tides of this ocean could be turned, then please, Mr. Yuasa, take my money.

277. Ne, shiteru?

It is illegal to privately replace one's mailbox if the original gets stolen. One must report to the homeowners association to officially re-outfit one's property with an approved standard mailbox, which will run you in the range of $500. USPS will refuse to deliver mail to your address in the meantime, and you will have to personally pick them up from the post office until your new mailbox arrives. Do not forget or forgo the police report.

276. Progress

I'm loving this image I project where apparently all that I do ALL DAY ERRYDAY is draw Saint Seiya fanart and wax the occasional poetic. Definitely getting just a bit out of hand. Yes. Maybe.

No.

275. Baba

A good time to reflect upon exactly how much I've removed myself from kinship and general human touch. (Tangible, amicable vibe in the air.) I get surprised by such small exchanges these days...

Or, simply, this is the spark of post-separation reunions - a familiar effect that, though well-understood and well-experienced, nevertheless weaves its magic.

-

Unrelatedly, facilitated by air-chilling goosebumps-inducing never-ending rain, I gave in to indifference (and laziness) and skipped open-theater-Gotye tonight. Stamping my (happily dry) feet until Deg comes to tour the U.S. once more - and making myself mental notes (too scared to call them promises) that I will follow them if there is more than one show on the East Coast.

2013...?
