OMFG A HEALTH ARTICLE ABOUT SELF-ESTEEM?

X_X okay i have a request for all of you! it's for an article i have to do, and i need some surveyish stuff. i should have posted it earlier but bleh whatever. please submit your opinions ASAP ;___;! you can make yourself anonymous for the replies! okay so i'm writing about how self-esteem can be affected by your body image and academic pressure. what aspects of body image/academic pressure gives you that low self-esteem? what will make your self-esteem go up again? >_> and so on and so forth. those were a couple of guide-line questions. please feel free to add your own. i owe you guys much love >D

edit: btw guys, i saw this on a forum (specifically soompi forums -_- lol maggie) and there was this post on these 5 people. they posted 2 pics; one of them with 5 little children sitting down on some bench and the other was a similar picture where all of them have the same poses but they are a few years older. its really cool how they did it, and you can tell that they were all good friends since they were little. ;__; it brought tears to my eyes and i thought we could do the same. remember the picture oli took? i thought it would be a GREAT example for one of those past/present pics. omg -_- my pose will be hard to render again xD i know not all of us are in this pic but we can always add another person^^ and we can do this for years to come..O_O that's kind of exciting, don't you agree? yayzerz for cheezy pic moments ^____^

about the picture, i HATE people using that work "like" in like, every, like frigging other word. X_X i want to die when someone raises their hand in class or just shove a friggin grammar book down their throats. i'm pretty sure i don't do it but if i do, i'll go hand myself as well ^^.

I'll be Anonymous just for fun. XD;

Since I care next to zit about my body image, I guess that part of the question is rather irrelevant. ("As long as I can run, walk, climb stairs and get to my next class on the tenth floor on time, it's all good.")

When it comes to academics, however, it most definitely seems (at least to me) what happens in our school is that competition is more likely to discourage people rather than to motivate them to do better. Feeling discouraged, in this context, can mean anything from "I want to improve, but...guess I can do that later" to "O FUK FOGET BOT DIS SHIT YO IMA OUTA HEA".

It sounds like just more BS when you read it in books, but physical activity and a really good workout actually really do help you get back on your feet from almost anything that's immediately depressing. >_> That is to say, while it may not help much in terms of motivating you to beat out those top kids and get into Harvard (in the long run), it does get you ready to tackle all your homework later the same night on days when you simply feel you can't do anything.

Hope that was helpful, Hyo-chan. I hope it doesn't sound to BS-y. =/

And about the "like" thing...eh. Occasionally I catch myself saying it, but it doesn't seem anything major enough for others to notice. I don't mind people overly saying that in real life for the most part, but it drives me nuts to see people starting to type that online as well.

awww ;__; those pictures are so...cute? O_o;;;; we look so....younger :O [and funkeh xD;]
man, those were the good ol' days T-T;; /end Anyway, yeah that sounds like a cool idea, haha we look so different now =_=;; xD;

And, I dont really care about my appearance, I noticed I got slightly fatter the other time, but it doesnt affect my self esteem it just feels really wierd because I've had some stomach problem-os and I wonder if its connected. And....I dont care about my looks at all. Academic wise, "Anonymous" nailed it, sometimes its easy to get discouraged and become apathetic and then you feel dumber in certain subjects. @_@;;; And then getting a good grade on a test makes me feel better, and getting a good grade is even better :D

Okay...for body image, I have to say that my self-esteem takes a plummet when I look bad. If I don't dress in a way that I like or am comfortable with, if my hair looks like crap, or if I just wake up feeling ugly, then my self-esteem goes down. However, lately I haven't woken up feeling ugly so if I'm feeling bad, then I just take a look at the mirror again and I feel better. Yes call me vain or whatever. =P
But I have been very depressed lately about my weight. There is the pressure of summer approaching and the urge to wear revealing clothing that I can't do. It makes me very sad. :'(
(Not that I do it in the first place anyways but not having the option to do it makes me want to.)

Grades give me pretty low self esteem too. With a low grade, it doesn't encourage me to study harder anymore. It only makes me go "w/e, I give up on this." Like Ms. Anoymous had previously said, in the school environment we're in, the competition often discourages us instead of encouraging us. There is more at stake in this "competition" than any other one and when you're on the losing side, it's not very hopeful.

Perhaps I will type more about this later...blah.

aw shucks i missed it. sorry hyo. and oh god, my hair looks so freaking awful. it's so freaking long, i need to cut it. i need to cut my current hair. so long. i look like i should be saying "duuuuhhhhh" in the 2nd picture. hahahaha. although i like the way my jeans and sneakers look together. end narcissism.

hyo you so weird. but i don't think any of us changed that much, appearance-wise. i mean it's only been about 2 years, right?

c.c. said...

I think no one changes much judging simply by the face. It's their hair that can really make people look different. >_>

haha yeah, we look pretty much the same except the hair. omg veronica looks like a doll in the second one xD hmm >_> maybe we can take a pic during the summer...to contrast these pics that were taken during the winter D:

...Yep, hair. Hair matters a lot. A LOT. It could completely change how someone looks. @_@
